C&D Technologies, Inc. (C&D) is a manufacturer and marketer of electrical power storage systems for the standby power and motive power markets. The Company conducts its business in two segments: Standby Power and Motive Power. The Standby Power division manufactures and markets lead acid batteries and standby power systems that integrate lead acid batteries with other electronic components, which are used to provide backup or standby power for electrical equipment in the event of power loss from the primary power source. The Motive Power division manufactures and markets lead acid batteries and systems used to power, monitor, charge and test the batteries used in electric material handling vehicles, including forklift trucks, automated guided vehicles and airline ground support equipment. In August 2007, the Company completed the sale of its Power Electronics division to Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd.
